Join New Hanover County 4-H with our 3rd Annual 4-H Food Drive Caring Hearts, Helping Hands service project to provide assistance to families throughout central and eastern North Carolina.
We are excited to partner with Lowes Foods at Monkey Junction in our community service project this year. Lowes Foods at Monkey Junction is an official food drive drop-off site. Selected canned items for purchase will be offered to donate OR you can purchase additional items to donate for Caring HEARTS Helping HANDS project.
– Every day hunger disrupts the lives of 1 in 5 children in North Carolina.
– More than 756,000 residents across central and eastern North Carolina go hungry everyday.
– In 2021, over 81 million meals were distributed to residents across the thirty-four counties, which comprise the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina regions.
– Between March and June 2021, roughly 4 out of 10 people visited food banks that had never received food assistance before the pandemic.
Donate the following:
Non-perishable foods; hygiene items; household items; paper products; infant & kid items.

Monetary donations can be made in several ways: |
1) Stop by the New Hanover County Extension & Arboretum
2) Mail your check to New Hanover County 4-H making checks payable to Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina
3) Drop off your check or cash either on March 11th or March 25th

A total of 1,000 pounds of food were collected and donated to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC during New Hanover County 4-H’s “Caring HEARTS Helping HANDS” food drive.
