Summer is coming soon and with it comes New Hanover County’s 4-H Summer Fun Programs! We have something for everyone! Scroll down to see all that we are offering this summer and keep a look-out for more opportunities and programs to come.
4-H Camp at Eastern Environmental Education Center!
4-H Camp at the Eastern Center is a week-long overnight camp from June 23rd – 28th, where 4-H Campers stay in cabins and participate in an array of activities including rock climbing, watersports, team building activities, bonfires and so much more! This is a great opportunity for your 4-H youth to get out of their comfort zone, have new experiences and meet new friends!
Details:
The price for this 6 day, 5 night camp is $270 for 8-14 yrs which includes lodging, transportation, camp shirt, $15 in camp store money, food, and all activities! Payment can be made by mail (check made out to New Hanover County) or in person (cash, check, or card) during business hours (Mon. – Fri. 9 a.m.-12 p.m., 1 p.m.-5 p.m.). Camps spots are first come, first serve so don’t delay to register! If you don’t see a spot available, reach out (elizabeth_stratton@ncsu.edu) to see if adjustments can be made!

4-H All About Animals Camp!
Does your young person love animals? This camp is for them! Each day we will explore pet, farm animals, and wild animals with activities, crafts and special guests. Snacks are included!

This camp is for campers ages 5-7 yrs and the total cost is $25 for three days of camp, July 9th – 11th from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension New Hanover County Office and Arboretum (6206 Oleander Dr. Wilmington, NC 28403). Payment can be made by mail (check made out to New Hanover County) or in person (cash, check, or card) during business hours (Mon. – Fri. 9 a.m.-12 p.m., 1 p.m.-5 p.m.). Camps spots are first come, first serve so don’t delay to register!

4-H Animals of the Sky Camp!
Is it a bird? Is it a bee? Is it a Bat? It’s 4-H Animals of the Sky Camp! Join us as we explore the animals that call the sky home. From insects to birds, mammals to fishes, there is a lot to investigate! BYO Lunch, however snacks are included.
Details:
4-H Youth ages 5-12 from Brunswick and New Hanover County are invited to join for this two-day camp July 16th-17th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Brunswick and New Hanover County Offices. Payment can be made by mail (check made out to New Hanover County) or in person (cash, check, or card) during business hours (Mon. – Fri. 9 a.m.-12 p.m., 1 p.m.-5 p.m.). NC 4-H Congress: July 22nd-26th
We are gearing up for an extraordinary State 4-H Congress! This year’s event will be held July 22 – 26, 2024, in Raleigh, NC. This year’s theme is Climb to Greatness! Congratulations to our State Council Reporter, Jacob Hanlon, for having his theme chosen by your State and District Officers! NC 4-H Congress is the premier 4-H event for teens of the year! Building off of the events at 4-H Teen Retreat, youth participate in workshops, fieldtrips, 4-H officer elections, dances, 4-H traditions, and more!

If you want to be immersed into the world of 4-H, meet other 4-H’ers from around the state, and experience where being involved in 4-H can take you to attend! On July 22nd-26th at NCSU for 4-H Teens 13-18yrs, with the cost being $200 + a couple additional meals. Activities include excursions, community service, dances, speakers, workshops, 4-H Traditions, and so much more!
We encourage any 4-H Teens who are interested in learning more about 4-H, being a District Officer, and want to explore the opportunities for them in 4-H to join us!

4-H Around the World Camp!
Join us to learn all about different parts of the world! Learn about the environments, culture, arts, and food (and yes that means cooking and eating it ) of the Mediterranean, South America, Oceana, Africa, and Asia! Half of the day will be spent learning about the environment of the region, and the other half will be spent learning about the culture and cooking!

Camp will be August 5th – 9th, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the N.C. Cooperative Extension New Hanover County Office and Arboretum (6206 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403) for youth ages 8 -12yrs. The Cost for 4-H Around the World Camp is $100. Payment can be made by mail (check made out to New Hanover County) or in person (cash, check, or card) during business hours (Mon. – Fri. 9 a.m.-12 p.m., 1 p.m.-5 p.m.).

4-H Island and Sound Exploration Camp!
The “Island and Sound Exploration” program is designed to introduce Campers to the coast and its wonders. Marine educators will be aboard to add insights to our discoveries as the campers take part in an array of hands-on experiences that make learning exciting. After boarding our vessel in Carolina Beach, we travel through Myrtle Grove Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway before landing on Masonboro Island. Most of the program’s activities take place on this pristine barrier island as we explore the diverse biology of the beautiful beach, marsh, and tidal creeks. After over two hours of learning and fun, we get back aboard our vessel and return to the dock. Chaperones must be approved 4-H Volunteers or Staff *This excursion is included in the 4-H Ocean Careers Camp or à la carte*
Details:
Youth ages 12-18yrs are invited to join us on this full day adventure! The fee of $30 includes a boat ride, squid dissection, adventures on Masonboro Island, and transportation. Payment can be made by mail (check made out to New Hanover County) or in person (cash, check, or card) during business hours (Mon. – Fri. 9 a.m.-12 p.m., 1 p.m.-5 p.m.).

4-H Ocean Careers Camp!
Join us for this Partnership camp with the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher and New Hanover County 4-H to dive into the careers available in the field of marine science! Have you dreamed of working in, around, or for the ocean? Step into the roles of marine science professionals to explore the day-to-day tasks of research, education, fieldwork, lab work, and animal care. Get your feet wet with introductory experience that can help inform decisions on your own path to becoming a future marine scientist. We will explore local ocean hotspots like the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher, join in on the 4-H Island and Sound Exploration program to visit an uninhabited island, and more!
Details:
Young people ages 13-15 are invited to join us to dive into the exciting learning opportunities and activities this camp offers from August 12th – 16th at the N.C. Cooperative Extension New Hanover County Office and Arboretum (6206 Oleander Drive, Wilmington, NC 28403)! Cost associated for this 5 day camp is $350/camper. However, scholarships are available!
