Collapse ▲During the month of March, individuals from all across our community participated in the 4-H “Caring Hearts, Helping Hands Food Drive”. Running from March 1st – 31th, there were 7 drop-off spots around the city of Wilmington where members of the community could drop-off food and other important hygiene items. These items went directly to the Wilmington branch of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC. With help from our 4-H Families, we also hosted a drive though drop-off event at the Arboretum and N.C. Cooperative Extension of New Hanover County as well as a drop-off location at the Wilmington Farmers Market at Tidal Creek where fresh produce from local farmers could be donated. Our goal for the year 2023 was to reach a total of 2,000lbs of donated goods and we are excited to share that we surpassed that goal by receiving a total of 6,924lbs of donated goods! (approximately 5,770 meals provided for individuals in need around our region)
Thank you to all of our drop-off locations mentioned below and a BIG thank you to Lowes Foods of Monkey Junction, whose location alone brought in 5,191lbs of donated goods.
