Congratulations to ALL of our 4-H members, volunteers, and supporters who were recognized for their outstanding achievements for 2022!
On Sunday, January 22, 2023, New Hanover County 4-H held their annual 4-H Awards Day Ceremony. With this being “awards session” for movies, music, and television, New Hanover County 4-H joined right along with announcing nominees prior to 4-H Awards Day. With announcement of each award and recap of the nominees, our 4-H presenters asked for the “envelope” to announce the winners. Nominees, families, and community partners were on the edge of their seats!
This year’s theme: 4-H: Experience the Adventure truly represents the unique and diverse programs that 4-H offers to all youth and adults. Four-H Clubs provided a glimpse of their work by showcasing club exhibits during the ceremony.
We recognized award winners and accomplishments for the 2022 4-H year. We were honored to have Chairman Bill Rivenbark of the New Hanover County Commissioners to bring greetings on behave of the county commissioners. Joining Mr. Rivenbark were Vice-Chair LeAnn Pierce and Commissioner Rob Zapple.
Dr. Dalton Dockery, Southeast District Extension Director with NC State Extension provided wishes and congratulations on behalf of the Southeast District and NC State Extension.
Four-H members, Sara Bergstrom and Quinn Brazik entertained us with their 4-H Talent Show winning performances during the ceremony. Sara serenaded and played her electric guitar and Quinn performed her talent on the violin.
A special thank you to our 4-H Teen Leaders for serving as hosts and presenters during the ceremony. Mr. Grayson Brazik, Vice President of 4-H Teen Leaders served as Master of Ceremonies.
New Hanover County 4-H Clubs were recognized for their successful year and completing their 4-H Charter Process. The following 4-H clubs received GOLD Seals for 2022. Clubs are: 4-H Envirothon Club, 4-H Rabbit Club, 4-H Teen Leaders Club, 4-H Trackers Club, Coastal Clovers 4-H Club, and NHC 4-H Horse Club. Congratulations to everyone! We were excited to have The Farm Bureau Leadership Award for 4-H Volunteer and 4-H Youth again this year. Farm Bureau New Hanover County is the proud sponsor of this award. They recognized the outstanding 4-H volunteer and 4-H youth. Recipients received a engraved cup and a $50 gift card.
New Hanover County 4-H is excited to announce the newest inductees into the New Hanover County 4-H Alumni & Friends Hall of Fame for 2023. The incredible work, support, and dedication to the youth, volunteers, and families over the years have been truly a blessing and an honor. This year’s inductees have gone above and beyond to make New Hanover County 4-H successful. This year’s inductees are: New Hanover County Farm Bureau and Mrs. Roben Jarrett.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, guests were treated to refreshments provided by Lowes Foods of Carolina Beach Road. A huge thank you to Mr. Patrick Walent, manager of Lowes Foods for his generosity and support of New Hanover County 4-H.
