4-H is the youth development program offered through Cooperative Extension, serving children and teens ages 5 to 18. Through a wide variety of engaging programs, 4-H helps young people build skills, confidence, and leadership—all while having fun.
Local 4-H clubs provide opportunities for long-term involvement in a range of topics, including science, agriculture, healthy living, and civic engagement. Led by dedicated volunteer leaders, clubs meet at various times and locations throughout the county to accommodate different schedules and interests.
In addition to clubs, 4-H provides educational experiences through in-school programs, after-school activities, and summer enrichment camps and opportunities.
As a public service supported by local and state governments, 4-H is able to offer high-quality programs at little or no cost to families. Many of our programs emphasize core areas such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Healthy Living, and Leadership Development.

Program vision: Offer a multi-faceted 4-H program that supports the involvement of youth in long-term, meaningful 4-H clubs and programs, enabling them to grow into future leaders.
Program mission: Build and support youth programs based on the 8 essential elements of youth development (based on research)
- Positive relationship with a caring adult (supporting volunteer club leaders)
- Inclusive Environment (reaching out to all families)
- Safe emotional and physical environment (safety/liability)
- Opportunity for mastery (helping kids feel like they do something well)
- Engagement in learning (hands-on learning)
- Opportunity to see oneself as an active participant in the future (goal setting)
- Opportunity for self-determination (lot of different options and topics to explore)
- Opportunity to value and practice service to others (community service/leadership)
