Join us for New Hanover County’s Therapeutic Horticulture Program and the Ability Garden as we celebrate a “Sustainable September” with practices that support a greener, healthier community. Follow us on Instagram (@nhc.abilitygarden and @nhcarboretum) or Facebook (Ability Garden) this month, as we illustrate small ways you can increase your commitment to sustainable practice.
Small choices can make a big difference. By selecting the right plants, conserving water, and reusing materials, we model good practices that protect our environment and enhance personal wellness.
Some of the topics we will cover this month include:
- Reusing old items as unique, non-traditional pots
- Unique ways to reuse plastic containers
- Understanding Compost
- Understanding Vermicompost
- Ways to conserve water
From creative potting ideas to composting under the kitchen sink, we’ll showcase inspiring ways to live more sustainably. Come explore, learn, and grow with inspiration, making a lasting difference for both your personal space and the planet. If you live near Wilmington, NC, join us for the Ability Garden’s 3rd Saturday plant sale, September 20th, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the NHC Arboretum.
