I remember being a 4-H’er and counting down the days until summer arrived. It meant one thing: 4-H Summer Fun was about to begin! Now, as the new 4-H Agent in New Hanover County, I’ve seen firsthand that the need for these programs is only growing.
With so many summer camp opportunities here in New Hanover County, it can be overwhelming to pick what camps best suit your child’s needs. So why choose the N.C. Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Summer Fun program this year?
The NHC 4-H Summer Fun Program is more than just an activity – it's a foundation for life. With our “learn by doing” philosophy, 4-H doesn’t just teach; it provides youth with the hands-on skills they need to be successful for years to come. Whether your child is 5 or 18, our camps offer a safe, engaging environment where they can explore their interests, build essential life skills, and form lasting friendships.
As the premier youth development program, we believe there’s nothing quite like seeing the excitement in a child’s eyes when they accomplish something for the first time. Whether it’s cooking, creating, or exploring, youth gain confidence as they master new skills alongside our trusted adult volunteers and community partners. There is a place for everyone in 4-H!
Our motto is "To make the best, better," and that work doesn’t end when the school bus returns in the fall. We offer year-round engagement through local clubs, school enrichment programs, and community events, all designed to help youth grow and thrive. Summer Fun serves as the perfect "front door" to see the impact of 4-H and discover which clubs will help your child thrive throughout the year.
Spaces are limited, so be sure to secure your child’s spot soon. Dig into a summer filled with growth, discovery, and fun. Choose 4-H Summer Fun!
