Welcome to the New Hanover County 4-H Youth Development program! As a member or volunteer, you are required to enroll in 4-H online 2.0 each year so we can keep your information accurate and up-to-date. This way, you can easily get updates from our agent, as well as join clubs, camps, and events. Below is a step-by-step guide for both existing and new 4-H members to help you get started with your registration.
Enroll in New Hanover County 4-H
During both the enrollment and re-enrollment processes, members will be asked a series of questions to determine how their member profile is generated. Please see the following member types before enrolling or re-enrolling:
- Cloverbuds: Youth ages 5 - 7 years (as of Jan. 1)
- Youth Members: Youth ages 8 - 18 (as of Jan. 1)
- Member at Large: Youth who do not wish to join a 4-H club, but would like to register for a 4-H.
- Volunteers: Adults who have been screened and certified as 4-H Volunteers
- Level 1 Volunteer: Volunteers who are approved by the county office to work directly with youth. Required to have background check and yearly training.
- Examples: Club Volunteer, Program Volunteer, Project Volunteer
- Level 2 Volunteer: Volunteer role that is not linked directly with youth and/or have limited/supervised youth interaction.
- Examples: Presentation Judge, Advisory Board Member, ect.
- Level 1 Volunteer: Volunteers who are approved by the county office to work directly with youth. Required to have background check and yearly training.
For Existing Members
If you have been previously enrolled in 4-H, you most likely have an active 4-H Online account. Re-enrollment is required for all 4-H participants and volunteers in January of each year.
Previous members should use their existing login and password to access their family account. If you are unsure if you have an account please county your local 4-H agent before continuing to enrollment.
Re-enrollment
- Log in to your 4-H Online account and click on your member's name, then "Enroll Now"
- Update any needed information, including grade and membership type
- Select clubs and projects the 4-H member plans to participate in
- Review consent forms and make adjustments as needed

For New Members and Volunteers
It is recommended that all 4-H families create a "family profile." This allows us to use a preferred contact for the whole family and grants both parents and youth access to the 4-H Online platform.
How to Create Your Family Profile
- Go to 4-H Online 2.0 and click "Sign Up" in the top right-hand corner (if you are on the login page, click "Don't Have An Account?" under the login box)
- Select the state "North Carolina" and the county "New Hanover County" in which you are participating
- Create your log-in information (save this information for re-enrollment next year!)
- Verify your information
Enrolling Youth in 4-H Online
- Go to "Member List" and "Add Member"
- Fill out information for each youth member individually
- Review all consent forms provided
- Add youth members to selected clubs, projects, or events
