Ability Garden Is Growing

— Written By and last updated by

The Ability Garden has gone through major transitions recently. We are now an independent non-profit, operating on the grounds of the New Hanover County Arboretum.

We continue to receive support from both NC Cooperative Extension and New Hanover County as we navigate this step in our growth. While we restructure our organization, we are also working this to refine our programing to continue to meet the needs of the community. This Fall we will offer programing at the NHC Arboretum for children and adults with disabilities, giving participants the opportunity to interact with nature through gardening and other environmental activities. We will also continue to refine our outreach activities, supporting 12 community sites.

A large part of our outreach program involves local schools, as we work to develop a sustainable system to support school gardens, incorporating students into the process as much as possible.

For more information on the program and how you can help, please visit our web-site  at www.abilitygarden.org,  While there is much work to be done, it is an exciting time in the Ability Garden and we are looking forward to the future!
